Rules and Regulations

  1. Bags, laptop bags/backpacks/cases, files, umbrellas and water containers without lockable caps are not permitted to be brought into the Library. They should be left in the cubicles at the entrance to the Library. However, the Library accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to items left in the cubicles.

  2. Eating is strictly prohibited in the Library. Drinking is permitted for water only, all other beverages are not allowed.

  3. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Library. The prohibition of smoking under this subsection shall cover all tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, tobacco leaves, and smokeless tobacco, as well as electronic devices such as vape or e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

  4. A quiet environment must be preserved in the Library. The use of personal radios, cassettes, audio/visual gadgets and mobile telephones is not permitted in the Library to avoid disturbance to other patrons.

  5. Patrons must be decently attired.

  6. Theft and vandalism of Library materials are serious offences and offenders will be subject to severe action, disciplinary or otherwise, by the University.

  7. Littering is prohibited.

  8. Reservation of seats in the Library is not permitted. Belongings left on tables and chairs for more than 30 minutes may be removed by the Library staff. The Library accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal items left in the Library.

  9. Only bills and notices approved by the Library may be posted on the Library's notice boards.

  10. When leaving the Library, patrons must show all Library materials in their possession to the staff at the checkpoint.

  11. Patrons who photocopy materials are fully responsible for any action arising from any contravention of the Copyright Act 1987.

  12. Any disorderly or improper conduct or contravention of the Library's regulations will render the patron liable to be suspended from the use of the Library, and where appropriate, further action, disciplinary or otherwise, from the University Management.

  13. Patrons who have lost their ID cards must immediately inform the Library and apply for a new ID card at the Information & Communication Technology Centre after paying a processing fee of RM25.00 at the Department of Finance.

  14. Patrons without ID cards are not allowed to enter the Library. Patrons must display their ID cards at all times while inside the Library.

  15. The University may without notice amend or introduce new rules whenever deemed appropriate.
