Library Membership

Find out about UTAR Library membership, borrowing privileges, external membership categories, application requirements and access to selected library services.

Library Membership
UTAR Staff and Students
Internal Membership

All current UTAR staff and students with a valid staff or student ID card are automatically registered as members of the UTAR Library.

The staff or student ID card also serves as the library card and must be used to access the library and borrow and return the library materials.

Borrowing Privileges for UTAR Staff and Students

Members are entitled to borrow and return library materials from any UTAR Library. Borrowing privileges are based on membership types, as shown below:

Red Spot Books
  • Only one Red Spot book may be borrowed at a time for a maximum of 2 hours.
  • Overnight loans are available 2 hours before the library closes and must be returned within 2 hours after the library opens the next day.
  • The Library reserve the right to recall any Red Spot book at any time.

Membership Policy

Membership is non-transferable and applies only to individual residing in Malaysia.

Library Card Access

Online library card will be provided, which must be used to enter the UTAR Library and borrow or return library books.

Online Database Access

Access to online databases is available as an add-on service, charged on a daily basis. Access is limited to selected UTAR subscribed online databases via dedicated PCs in the library. Remote access is not available.

Eligibility
Open for spouse and children (aged 18 and below) of the UTAR staff members.
Annual Membership Fee
Option 1: RM50.00 per person

Option 2: RM100.00 per person
Can borrow up to 2 Books for 14 Days;
Online Renewals allowed up to 2 times per book.
Online Database Access
Available with additional daily access fee of RM50.00 per day.

School Students
Eligibility
Open to valid students (aged 18 and below) from any public, private or international school.
Annual Membership Fee
Option 1: RM30.00

Open to individual aged 60 and above.
Annual Membership Fee

Eligibility
Open to any public or private sector company, organisation, institution, etc.
Membership Benefits
2 library membership cards will be issued to each corporate member.
Annual Membership Fee
RM2,000.00
Can borrow up to 6 Books for 14 Days;
Online Renewals allowed up to 2 times per book.
Online Database Access
Access to selected online databases within the library.
Application
Email the completed application form along with a scanned copy of the person-in-charge’s staff ID card.

UTAR Hospital Staff Members
Eligibility
Open to all UTAR Hospital staff members.
Annual Membership Fee
RM100.00
Can borrow up to 2 Books for 14 Days;
Online Renewals allowed up to 2 times per book.
Online Database Access
Access to selected online databases within the library.
Application
Email the completed application form along with a scanned copy of your UTAR Hospital staff ID card and a passport-size photo.
Important Note
All UTAR Hospital staff members can access the UTAR Library for free. If you would like to borrow books and/or access online databases, please register as an external member.
