    SERVICE CHARTER

As a vital partner in the teaching, learning and research activities of the University, the Library is committed to provide access to quality information resources, services, facilities and the support to enable patrons to develop skills to meet their information needs.

With emphasis on equal partnership, this charter sets out the Library’s commitment to patrons and its expectations of patrons.

We will:



Provide the resources required for teaching, learning and research and the services to help you identify what is available


Provide, where possible, the resources electronically so that they can be accessed whenever and wherever required.

Provide remote access to online resources on and off-campus (24x7).

Ensure print resources are re-shelved quickly and accurately.


Provide efficient loan services which includes re-calls, online renewals and requests for your convenience .
Provide Inter-Campus Loan service for your convenience.
Assist in obtaining resources not available in UTAR Library through Document Delivery services.


Respond to all enquiries quickly and accurately and take into consideration suggestions and feedback.
Teach you how to identify, use and manage information through our Information Skills programme.
Ensure opening hours of the Library are responsive to your needs.

Provide a comfortable physical environment conducive to study and research.


Provide computers, photocopying and wireless facilities to assist in meeting your learning and research needs.

Let us know of any resources for learning, teaching and research which we should have.


Take good care of library resources and return them on time and in good condition in accordance with Library rules and regulations.

Respond promptly and courteously to all communications from the Library.

Let us know of items you cannot find in the Library.

Be familiar with our Library’s website and observe all Library rules and regulations.


Take advantage of opportunities offered by the Library to enhance the effectiveness of your learning, teaching and research.

Ask our staff for help whenever you need it.

Let us know if you have any concerns, suggestions or complaints.

Consider the rights of other Library patrons and treat them with respect.
Treat facilities, furniture and equipment with respect and let us know of faults that can be repaired.

Treat us with courtesy and respect.
