    LIBRARY COLLECTIONS

The Library has a multilingual and multi-format collection that is closely related to the academic and research programs of the University. Materials in the collection are classified according to the Library of Congress Classification Scheme. Presently the collection is categorized as follows:

i. Open Shelf Collection
All materials in this collection can be borrowed by library members. Most of the materials are related to the courses taught in the University. However, there are also fiction and light reading materials.
ii. Reference Collection
Materials in this collection are non-circulating. They serve as reference tools and consist of encyclopedias, dictionaries, enactments, acts, company annual reports etc. All materials have ref/doc/sem prefixed to their call numbers.
iii. Red Spot Collection
Most items serve as compulsory reading materials. They can be borrowed for two hours or overnight.
iv. Serials Collection
The collection consists of academic journals, leisure reading magazines, local newspapers, etc. All materials are non-circulating. Subcribed Print Journals
v. Past Examination Papers
A collection of past examination papers are available for reference and can be accessed online in the UTAR Intranet.
vi. Special Collections
The Special collections in the Library consist of valuable, rare and fragile materials which were either acquired via purchase or as gifts. These materials are located in the Special Collection Room on the 2nd floor of the Main Library at the Kampar Campus. The materials are non-circulating. However, they are available for reference only. Essentially, there are two specific collections here; they are the Rare Books collection and the Chinese in Southeast Asia collection. Read more
vii. Taiwan Resource Center
In collaboration with the National Central Library of Taiwan, the Taiwan Resource Centre for Chinese Studies (TRCCS) was established at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Library. This new resource centre, which is located on the 3rd Floor of the Main Library at Kampar, houses an impressive collection of books pertaining to Chinese and Taiwan studies; these are the books donated by the National Central Library of Taiwan.
